Sie hatten schon viele Forschung gemacht - das Klavier wurde als eine Palette, die zahlreichen Farben , die besondere Klänge und die radikale harmonie herstellen konnte. 18世纪后期至19世纪中期，德国的钢琴制造业发展迅速，一些历史悠久的钢琴品牌也在积极地进行技术革新，他们制作的钢琴占领了欧洲大大小小的音乐厅。直到1914年，美国的一些钢琴品牌进入欧洲市场之后，才结束了德国钢琴的垄断地位。第一次世界大战爆发之前，德国制造的钢琴以优良的质量闻名于世，英国人则擅长制作用于美妙音色的钢琴，法国的钢琴制造商则主要生产用于演出的钢琴。在那个时代，英国、德国和法国的乐器制造商们不遗余力地改进制作技术，为钢琴注入了更丰富的音色。
 
Von dem Ende des 18. Jh bis der Mitte des 19. Jh entwickelte sich die deutsche klavier-fertigung sehr schnell. Ein paar historische Klavier-Marken innovierte aktiv die Technik. Nach 1914 kamen   einige US-Marken in Europa auf und das deutsche Monopol endete. Aber vor dem 1. Weltkrieg sind die deutschen Klaviere für ihre hervorragenden Qualität bekannt gewesen. Die Briten kannten sich gut in Fertigung der Klaviere mit der ausgezeichneten Timbre aus. Die Franzosen stellten meistens die Klaviere nur für die Aufführungen her. Damals verbesserten die Klavierbauer die Technik mit aller Kraft, um die reichere Timbre haben zu können.
